Sabi Sabi Game Reserve - Location
Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is an unspoilt part of Africa ecologically and geographically integrated with the adjacent Kruger National Park. It is situated within one of South Africa’s oldest and largest proclaimed reserves – the renowned Sabi Sand Wildtuin.
Sabi Sabi lies 500 km east of Johannesburg, 800 km north east of Durban and 200 km west of Maputo in Mozambique. It lies on the same latitude as Sao Paulo and Brisbane and the same longitude as Cairo, Istanbul and St.Petersburg.
Birding at Sabi Sabi Game Reserve
Sabi Sabi is a bird lover’s delight – home to almost 350 species including rare specimens such as the Narina Trogon, Bat Hawk and Diedrick’s Cuckoo as well as the so-called ‘Big 6’ of Martial Eagle, Lappet-faced Vulture, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Saddle-billed Stork, Southern Ground Hornbill and Kori Bustard. The reserve’s varying habitats such as open grass plains, dry woodland savanna and thick riverine bush offer exciting bird watching for novice and expert alike. During summer birders are spoilt for choice as the bush is alive with the calls of so many different birds, while in winter the drier bush and sparse vegetation makes for spectacular sightings.

African Travel Consultants delivered on their promise. Once I arrived in Cape Town, I never had to contact him as everything was in place. We highly recommend ATC!

The lodge itself is incredibly luxurious, rooms were very tidy, bed was comfortable and the front balcony with the pool is lovely touch. All of the staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was simply outstanding and consisted of a buffet breakfast and lunch, and lovely dinner out on the deck.
The lodge itself is situated within a private concession of Kruger National Park which is densely populated with animals. The guides know their way around like the back of their hands and we were fortunate enough to see all of the big 5 (and even wild dogs). The highlight had to be seeing a leopard drag an impala up a tree - a once in a lifetime experience which wouldn't have been possible without our fantastic guide, Connor

Everything was well organized, the driver came to pick us on time and the whole safari was full of fun & excitement. We managed to see the big five and we were lucky to have a fantastic cook Joe ! We really enjoyed the meals. I highly recommend Sally from African Travel Consultants as it's the only company that was cost effective for a group of interns & students, Great service and very professional.
